Our club badge, a bell crossed by a golf club, is symbolic of the raison d’être of the NOMADS – through golf the remembrance of others.

It has taken an incredible amount of work from committed Nomads over many years to get to this point – our first ever National Tournament and boy are we excited!

A visit to the resort last weekend confirmed that we have made the correct decision. The hotel and surrounding grounds are steeped in tradition and when I say tradition I mean it, the oldest building at St Pierre is the church of St Peter which was built around 1100 and consists of nave chancel, north porch and bellcote. The Old Course hosted the Solheim Cup, the Mathern Course, although a lot shorter, is in many ways more challenging, the countryside is breathtaking and the staff are super friendly – it is the perfect recipe for a memorable weekend.

Apart from a great weekend, what you can expect:

Friday

  • Register and collect your goodie bag, for those of you arriving early breakfast will be available
  • Tee off at 12pm
  • Ladies’ High Tea, Spa and leisure
  • Ladies’ cocktail hour with the Berkshire and Gloucestershire Captains
  • Braai (BBQ for Ian Wright) with live music at the rugby club

Saturday

  • Breakfast, driving range for those who believe they’re in contention and 11am tee off
  • Ladies outing
  • Gala dinner and prize giving (not likely to hand out prizes to the driving range boys)

Sunday

  • Breakfast and checkout

A huge thank you goes out to James Bryers from Bryair and George Derbyshire from Daikin for standing in as sponsors for the tournament. Please contact James or me if you would like to add your company’s name to the sponsors’ list or know of anyone who would like to do so.

Eight months to go, we can’t wait to get the show on the road and welcome as many International Nomads as possible.

The two courses, the Old and the Mathern, are both great layouts that can be enjoyed by golfers of any handicap. That said, the Old Course steals the show, one of the best parkland layouts in Wales and host to the 1996 Solheim Cup

The St. Pierre Country Club is located just across the Welsh border, making it incredibly accessible from most of the UK and Ireland. The hotel is housed in a striking 14th Century manor home, boasting facilities on the inside that are as exquisite as the exterior. The hotel is the picture of 4-star luxury, with extensive spa facilities and multiple top-notch dining options.

Set in 400 acres of stunning Monmouthshire countryside, the 14th-century manor home that is now home to the hotel is truly incredible. St Pierre represents the perfect blend, with the character of the ancient architecture being superbly complemented by the top-class modern amenities.

The spacious guest rooms are finished with the finest furnishings, and this attitude has resulted in first-class dining and leisure possibilities.

The Beauty Rooms at St Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club offers guests the chance to try one of a range of tremendous treatments, including body scrubs and wraps, facials, manicures, pedicures, massages and many more.
